SUMMARY

IDENTIFICATION

SCIENTIFIC NAME(s)

Xiphopenaeus kroyeri

SPECIES NAME(s)

Atlantic seabob

There might be sufficient evidence to justify treating the Suriname and Guyana seabob stocks as discrete units for assessment and management purposes (Gusmão et al. 2006). However, an alternative stock structure hypothesis should be explored in future assessments which may require a revision of the stock structure (CRFM Fishery Reports 2020)(Southall et al. 2020). In fact, genetic studies have shown that Suriname and Guayana might share the same genetic stock (Kerkhove, 2020 in (Cappell and Addison 2023)).
