SUMMARY

IDENTIFICATION

SCIENTIFIC NAME(s)

Perca flavescens

SPECIES NAME(s)

American yellow perch, Yellow perch

Four different assessment units are in the Lake Erie for American yellow perch: 1) Western Basin, 2) Western Central Basin, 3) Eastern Central Basin and 4) Eastern Basin (GLFC, 2012a; 2015). Stock structure is not completely understood; several spawning groups have been detected from genetic analysis, showing little evidence of correspondence with the established assessment units (Sepulveda-Villet and Stepien, 2011).
