Some catches of Illex coindetii are being misreported as Illex illecebrosus as scientific surveys only report the species Illex coindetii in Divisions 27.8.c and 27.9a (ICES 2020)(STECF 2021)(FAO 2021)(La Voz de Galicia 2023).
