SUMMARY

SUMMARY

IDENTIFICATION

SCIENTIFIC NAME(s)

Anoplopoma fimbria

SPECIES NAME(s)

Sablefish

(Kimura et al. 1998) analysis found two populations along with the species' distribution: a northern population from Alaska to northern British Columbia and a southern population from southern British Columbia to California. However, (DFO 2013)(Jasonowicz et al. 2016) suggest a single population. The fishery is assessed and managed considering a single unit in British Columbia, Canada (Cox et al. 2019). There are current efforts to match the stock structure with the assessment and management measures along the US and Canadian coasts (Workman et al. 2019).
