SUMMARY

SUMMARY

IDENTIFICATION

SCIENTIFIC NAME(s)

Perca fluviatilis

SPECIES NAME(s)

European perch, Eurasian perch, perch

The population structure of European perch in the inland and coastal waters of Poland is not conclusively known (e.g. Mankiewicz-Boczek et al. 2013). Baltic Sea perch is know to display one of three behavioral patterns: anadromous (living in the brackish Baltic but migrating to freshwater to spawn), sea-dwelling, and permanent freshwater residents (Nesbø et al. 2004; Data-limited diadromous species – review of European status 2019) but it is not clear which is displayed by Polish perch, so this profile covers both inland and Baltic coastal waters.
