Forkbeard can be found in the NE Atlantic, from the Bay of Biscay to Morocco, and the Mediterranean Sea (Vieira et al. 2016). The stock structure along the African coast is unknown. A management unit within Moroccan waters is here considered (IUCN 2015), in lack of an assessment conducted.
