Peruvian moonfish is found in the eastern Pacific Ocean, from southern California to Peru. No information regarding stock structure could be found. There are reported catches by industrial and artisanal fleets in Colombia (AUNAP-SEPEC 2014), in particular the small pelagics purse seine fishery (Díaz Merlano et al. 2011).
