Atlantic herring
Herring on the west coast of Newfoundland are assessed as two distinct spawning stocks: spring and fall herring (DFO, 2011) managed jointly under a single TAC. Genetic studies conducted to date have not been conclusive as to herring population or meta-population structuring in the NW Atlantic (Shaw et al. 1999); (McBride 2014); (Kritzer, J. P., and O. R. Liu. 2014).
