SUMMARY

SUMMARY

IDENTIFICATION

SCIENTIFIC NAME(s)

Limanda aspera

SPECIES NAME(s)

Yellowfin sole

Yellowfin sole is found in the North Pacific Ocean from British Columbia north to the Chukchi Sea and south along the Asian coast to the Sea of Japan (FishBase 2021). In the Bering Sea, yellowfin sole are most abundant on the Eastern Bering Sea (EBS) shelf and much less abundant in the Aleutian Islands region (Spies et al. 2021). It's been suggested that there are multiple stocks of yellowfin sole in the Bering Sea, however, there is no genetic evidence to establish a stock structure (Spies et al. 2021). As a result, yellowfin sole in the Bering Sea is managed as a single stock (Spies et al. 2021)
