The Patagonian scallop is spatially structured as a meta-population in the SW Atlantic, in the Argentinean continental shelf (Allega et al. 2020) and interconnected beds by larval drift have been identified along with a 90 km area range (Bremec et al. 2000). Such macro-scale spatial distribution matches the location of three major frontal systems in the SW Atlantic (Bogazzi et al. 2005).

Strengths
- From publicly available data, both Total and Commercial Biomass seems to be stable, albeit with weak incorporation of new recruits into the population (Campodónico et al. 2019). Under the current regime, based only on the fixed harvest rate of 0.4 Bcommercial the fishery can be considered to be sustainable (Morsan 2019).
