The FIP previously went inactive on Fishery Progress for missing two consecutive reports, at which time the rating in Fish Source was removed but the FIP was kept active. The FIP's last stage 4 result is now over 36 months old. The FIP is now inactive.

4. Improvements in Fishing Practices and Fishery Management	Feb 19	Verifiable improvement in policy/management and fishing practices 1 February 2019 — Code of Conduct focused on the impacts of the fishery on the ecosystem was signed by the companies associated with the FIP. Long-term objectives for the management of the fishery and actions to deal with the impacts on the ecosystem are included. 1 December 2018 — The latest “situation report of Peruvian hake” prepared by IMARPE shows the adoption of Biological Reference Points based on yield per recruit. 1 October 2018 — Interaction of the fishery with ETP species is quantified in the Observers program conducted annually 1 October 2018 — Improvement in MSC PIs 1.2.4, 2.3.3, 2.4.3, 2.5.3, 3.2.2, 3.2.3, 3.2.4 6 September 2018 — The Peruvian Government published Law 1393, aiming to address the issue of IUU fishing and commercialization, being all stakeholders involved. 28 March 2018 — Improvement in MSC PI indicators 1.2.3, 2.1.3, 2.2.3, 2.3.3, 3.1.1, 3.1.2 20 April 2017 — The private Onboard Observers Program started to be implemented onboard industrial vessels based in Paita.- observer received training from IMARPE regarding identification of top predators. Also, data collection forms were homologated to those in use by IMARPE, in order to ensure compatibility. To October 31st, 26 trips have been observed. 1 September 2013 — PRODUCE suspended fishing activities to protect spawning season and juvenile specimens 1 June 2013 — TAC for “biological year” (July 2013-June 2014) established at 38,957 tonnes 1 March 2013 — PRODUCE suspended hake fishery for the spawning season 1 January 2013 — PRODUCE has established temporary suspensions of fishing to protect juvenile specimens 1 September 2012 — TAC for 1st half of 2013 established at 13,748 tonnes 1 August 2012 — PSC-NSI carried out an international workshop on Situation, Evaluation and Sustainability of Peruvian Hake with the participation of CeDePesca and government officials 1 June 2012 — TAC for 2012 was raised to 25,800 tonnes, according with IMARPE recommendation - still 25% lower than 2011 TAC. 1 April 2012 — TAC for 2012 has increased to 14,723 tonnes, in line with IMARPE recommendation. 1 December 2011 — TAC for 2012 has been reduced to 8,600 tonnes to allow a real recovery of the stock. 1 July 2009 — Transparency levels have increased a little about delivering some background for TAC decision.
