Strengths
- The industry follows a zonal approach to farm siting and production and consideration of cumulative impacts and is based on scientific advice and public consultations. Controlled Activity Regulation licenses set multiple site-specific limits to production that are monitored by SEPA.
Weaknesses
- Although trends in sea lice indicate that levels are decreasing, there is still evidence that weekly sea lice levels exceed both the recommended Salmon Scotland CoGP treatment and the FHI intervention level.
