The FIP has reported the adoption of a 'Fins Naturally Attached' policy which prohibits shark finning. With this new stage 4 result reported, the FIP becomes A rated.

3. FIP Implementation	Sep 23	FIP activities undertaken 15 September 2023 — The MMAF, in collaboration with various stakeholders, conducted a coordination meeting to discuss quota-based fisheries. The primary objective of the meeting was to provide participants with an understanding of Government Regulation No. 11/2023. 1 September 2023 — The FIP continues to undergo vessel registration; from April- September 2023 51 vessels were registered. 1 September 2023 — Port sampling activities, which include collecting ETP data, remains ongoing. From April- September 2023 257 port sampling activities, 8 surveillance cameras audit and 5 on-board observer deployments took place. Data collected between this period revealed interactions between the fishery and five shark species. 28 August 2023 — The FIP hosted a working group meeting to determine social and economic indicators for inclusion in the national tuna management plan and the HS component to measure impacts in line with HS/ HCR implementation, with agreed sets of indicators and plans for further data gathering enhancement in the social and economic indicators field. 26 August 2023 — The FIP conducted training workshops for small-scale handline tuna fishers in Larantuka, East Nusa Tenggara and Tulehu, Maluku. The workshops covered topics such as increasing compliance, sustainable fishery practices, traceability, and monitoring and mitigating the risk of interactions with ETPs. 1 August 2023 — FIP participants actively supported and engaged in FCMC meetings in West and East Nusa Tenggara, addressing various fisheries management topics, including data collection, capacity building for fishermen, FAD management, quota-based fisheries, industry compliance, and the significance of sharing data with local authorities 30 March 2023 — MDPI and AP2HI continue to help facilitate new vessel registrations into 2023 16 March 2023 — The FIP is supporting the preparation and implementation of the Tropical Tuna Fishery Harvest Strategy in Indonesia by attending and supporting various national meetings, including technical preparation workshops, meetings on the development of harvest strategy implementation, and a meeting to determine the roles of each partner in finalizing the harvest strategy framework; among the topics discussed were updated CPUE data and analysis selectivity, data preparation and cleaning, target and limit reference points and technical candidates for HCR and management measures. 9 March 2023 — The FIP and WWF came together to conduct a training on best management practices to mitigate ETP interactions and bycatch. AP2HI also organized a training workshop focused on increasing compliance and strengthening monitoring. 6 March 2023 — The new regulation 11/2023 Penangkapan Ikan Terukur has been issued by the Indonesian government to establish a quota-based fishery system; the regulation will divide the country's waters into zones encompassing different Fisheries Management Areas (FMAs). 1 March 2023 — MDPI continues to install cameras onboard the handline vessels; 152 trips on 33 vessels have been conducted between October 2022- March 2023 1 March 2023 — From October 2022- February 2023, AP2HI conducted 198 port samplings with 10 surveillance cameras and 3 onboard observer deployments in the WCPO with no ETP interactions being recorded. MDPI also carried out port sampling activities, 1,067 samplings in total, resulting in 3 instances of shark interactions and 1 PTH interaction. 15 February 2023 — The FIP along with WWF facilitated a dialogue between multiple stakeholders to advocate the Harvest Strategy at the WCPFC level. 20 September 2022 — MDPI and AP2HI continue to help facilitate new vessel registrations 1 September 2022 — Sampling and monitoring activities continue to be carried out; between April- September of 2022, 144 trips were conducted on 33 vessels. 25 August 2022 — ETP mitigation techniques training workshop held 24 August 2022 — WWF and MDPI held a sub-regional hybrid meeting focused on driving dialogue between Indonesia and the Philippines to support harvest strategy implementation. 13 June 2022 — MDPI, BRIN and MMAF held a workshop on the harvest strategy and related data-collection efforts. 30 March 2022 — In 2022, there have been FCMC Tuna meetings in three provinces, namely FCMC Tuna NTB on February 10, 2022, with a total of 51 participants, FCMC Tuna South Sulawesi on March 24, 2022, with a total of 60 participants and FCMC Tuna North Sulawesi on March 30, 2022, with a total of 67 participants. 1 March 2022 — Port sampling with a focus on ETP monitoring conducted from October- March 2022 10 December 2021 — AP2HI and IPNLF participated in the 7th technical and stakeholder workshop in which the harvest strategy was discussed 1 November 2021 — The ETP and ERS identification book has been updated and circulated to fishers and enumerators. 31 August 2021 — Port sampling data collection and the use of on board camera systems continued between April and August 2021. 30 August 2021 — AP2HI, IPNLF and MDPI submitted data and participated in the Indonesian Tuna Fisheries Annual Catch Estimation (ITFACE) workshops, hosted by MMAF and SPC, under WCPFC’s Western Pacific East Asia (WPEA) program. 21 April 2021 — Letters of agreement drafted up with Maluku, North Maluku and North Sulawesi to establish co-management committees in their province 10 December 2020 — A consortium of NGOs working in tuna fisheries otherwise known as "The Tuna Consortium" are also working on streamlining data collection initiatives in Indonesia to support Archipelagic Waters Harvest Strategies and Fishery Management Plans. 1 December 2020 — Handline port sampling data collection is ongoing in MDPI sites including data ETP interaction; update on data collection presented at FCMC meeting 11 November 2020 — MDPI conducted a coordination meeting with MMAF about the IAW Harvest Strategy, e-logbook dissemination and implementation, and FAD research gaps. 1 October 2020 — The Fishery Co-Management Committee (FCMC) meeting was conducted; the Guidelines for Fisheries Mangagement Action Plan was developed and approved 1 September 2020 — The committee committed to supporting the development and launch of a vessel licensing platform (SAMSAT) was approved under NTB's Governor decree No 24 / 2020. 12 August 2020 — AP2HI conducted training on best handling practice for catch and ETPs, and signed the Captain's Code of Conduct that includes commitments to sustainable practices 31 December 2019 — Summary assessment of ETP interactions was conducted by IPNLF among fisheries planned to go into MSC full assessment. 18 December 2019 — Meeting report from the Regional co-management in Jakarta in early 2019. 4 December 2019 — Participated in WCPFC Commission meeting 30 November 2019 — Handline protocols used by MDPI and AP2HI to collect data in landing sites. 30 October 2019 — Harvest Strategies meeting for Indonesian Archipelagic waters was conducted in October 2019 30 September 2019 — Port-side enumerator data is being consolidated by FIP leads to assess the recruitment for target, primary and secondary species for fishing events happening on FADs, for the first tranche UoAs. 24 September 2019 — FIP leads have consolidated annual catch data from one-by-one tuna fisheries in Indonesia to support annual reporting compliance to WCPFC, in July 2019. 18 September 2019 — The handline observer protocol has been developed by KKP, AP2HI, IPNLF and MDPI. 1 August 2019 — The DIVA-database will store data on all vessels registered to fish tuna in Indonesian Archipelagic waters, including vessels <10GT. 1 March 2019 — The I-Fish data collection system has now moved from paper-based to app-based in all of the MDPI data collection sites. 1 January 2019 — In January 2019, MDPI convened a Regional DMC meeting in Jakarta, inviting representatives from each of the six provinces where MDPI has initiatives co-management (NTT, NTB, Maluku, North Maluku, North Sulawesi and South Sulawesi). 14 December 2018 — The CMM 2018-01 states the position related to the development of a TRP for yellowfin. 1 September 2018 — The uncertainty regarding the direction of the FAD management plan remains. 4. Improvements in Fishing Practices and Fishery Management	Dec 22	Verifiable improvement in policy/management and fishing practices 1 December 2022 — The FIP has updated its code of conduct to include a new policy that prohibits shark finning. 12 November 2021 — Increase in PI 2.4.3; Three-year audit has been made available. The number and location of FADs associated with each UoA has been mapped in relation to bathymetric zones. Improved data gathering processes have been employed through on-board camera data and port sampling as well as the implementation of monitoring, control and surveillance systems. 30 September 2019 — FIP leads have deployed time-lapse camera's to assess whether or not ETP interactions take place during fishing events. This will help bolseter port-side enumerator data that can't capture these types of fishing events. 9 May 2019 — Three provinces have signed the guideline document for co-managment implementation in their province (South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi and Maluku). 1 April 2018 — Bait fish data collection is ongoing in MDPI data collection sites using I-Fish port sampling protocol, including identification training for enumerators. 1 April 2018 — A bycatch and ETP catch composition analysis was conducted for the priority UoAs for MSC in 2018 (link to the document in the URL below). 1 April 2018 — To date 817 vessels have been registered in the I-Fish vessel registry system.
