FIP Implementation	Oct 23	FIP activities undertaken 13 October 2023 — The FIP has produced a position statement ahead of the 2023 ICCAT virtual meeting 1 July 2023 — The FIP has started to install EM cameras on their vessels. 31 May 2023 — The FIP coordinator met with the Mauritanian fisheries ministry in Portugal during the ICCAT intersessional meeting to discuss the fisheries management in the coastal state. 1 May 2023 — The FIP coordinator collated the information from the respective fisheries ministries and produced a principle 3 re-scoring document using this information. 1 December 2022 — The FIP has initiated bioFAD and FAD recovery trials under the new FAD management policy 17 November 2022 — The FIP met with the Senegalese and Mauritanian fisheries ministry in Portugal during the ICCAT intercessional meeting to discuss fisheries management in the coastal state. 1 November 2022 — The FIP has produced position statements ahead of both 2022 ICCAT meetings 19 October 2022 — The FIP has signed an agreement with Satlink to install EM systems onboard FIP vessels 1 October 2022 — Several meetings have been held with the coastal states to request information about the current management practices and policies in place; following these meetings a follow-up data request questionnaire has been developed and distributed 3 August 2022 — Observer training was conducted in the summer of 2022; the training session invited observers from the Senegalese and Guinean governments wherein observers were educated on the usage of FADs and recording FAD information as well as ETP interaction. 1 May 2022 — A new updated observer data template made available 1 May 2022 — Crew training held for fishers ; crew familiarized with ETP and shark finning policy 1 May 2022 — Six month update made available; HCR white paper is underway 1 February 2022 — KT has written a letter to ministry delegates to introduce the Atlantic purse seine tuna FIP 1 November 2021 — Review of the ecological trap hypothesis was conducted to identify more about the importance and impact that FADs have on the species within the ecosystem and the fishery/ FIP overall. 1 November 2021 — ICCAT conducted stock assessment for BET in 2021; stock data from recent years estimated the stock was overfished but not undergoing overfishing.
