3. FIP Implementation	Dec 23	FIP activities undertaken 1 December 2023 — Bycatch and ETP interaction data collected via the monitoring program for the 2022 season has been analyzed and organized into a presentation; the data demonstrates that a high level of incidental catch is being recorded. 1 October 2023 — On-board monitoring remains ongoing; to-date 140 fishing trips have been monitored. 29 May 2023 — Between April and October 2023, IMARPE and eel fishery owners conducted the collaborative "Operation Eel II" survey, during which both groups contributed essential data on size structure, reproduction, fishing areas, total catch, CPUE, and composition. 1 April 2023 — A logbook template used by onboard observers has been made avilable 1 April 2023 — A manual has been developed for fishermen on best data collection and recording practices onboard 1 March 2023 — A study to create a trap recovery protocol and a biodegradable trap prototype was initiated in August 2023. 1 November 2022 — The FIP has developed an ID guide for commonly encountered species in the fishery 8 August 2022 — Ministerial decree Nº 00266-2022-PRODUCE authorized the FIP to conduct a biological survey for the 2022 fishing season. 8 February 2022 — The FIP held a meeting with other Peruvian FIPs to foster collaboration, share best practices, and discuss challenges and opportunities in fisheries management.
4. Improvements in Fishing Practices and Fishery Management	Aug 23	Verifiable improvement in policy/management and fishing practices 18 August 2023 — Increase to PI 3.1.3; The FIP received confirmation from the General Directorate of Policy and Regulatory Analysis of Fisheries and Aquaculture (DGPARPA). The General Fisheries Law demonstrates that there are clear long-term objectives for fisheries governance in place. 1 March 2023 — Increase to PI 2.1.3; Logbook records have identified primary species as anchoveta and mackerel which are used as bait species. 1 March 2023 — Increase to PI 2.2.3;The only secondary species identified from logbook records was the gringo snail, constituting just 0.52% of the total catch. No other secondary species identified. 6 June 2022 — Increase to PI 1.2.3; a monitoring program consisting of on-board observers and a logbook recording system is in place for the fishery. 1 June 2022 — A monitoring system and data recording protocol has been implemented across the fleet
