The FIP participated in the 3rd Ordinary Meeting of the CPG Demersal Sudeste/Sul; the FIP explained the urgent need to resume data collection programs and include aspects related to secondary species, ETP species and habitats. 

The FIP wrote to MPA and MMA to urge the implementation of specific management measures, including catch limits. They also stressed the need for regular stock assessments and data collection programs that consider ecosystem components like secondary species, ETP, and habitats.

Ordinances No. 291 and 292 were published in June 2024, forming a Working Group to review management measures for demersal fisheries in the Southeast and South regions, focusing on corvina. The group held the first working group meeting in July 2024 and discussed a proposed management plan, current legislation, fishing vessel permits, and strategies for compiling corvina stock data.

The FIP was invited to the 2nd Ordinary Meeting of the SE/S Demersal CPG where the whitemouth croaker fishery was discussed. The meeting participants agreed to formalize a working group to prepare management plans for demersal species and present the corvina stock assessment at the next meeting.

The FIP attended the 1st Demersal Southeast/ South CPG meeting; the FIP delivered a presentation about FIP objectives, action progress and the need to resume data collection programs.
