3. FIP Implementation	Nov 23	FIP activities undertaken 29 November 2023 — The Evaluation Directorate of the Ministry of Production has issued the first draft of the follow-up report on the POTA ROP; the report outlines that compliance with the provisions established in the ROP has been achieved by 50%. 11 September 2023 — The FIP attended the 11th meeting of the SPRFMO scientific committee meeting. At the meeting, Peru presented data on squid size range and natural mortality. 23 August 2023 — PRODUCE has signed an agreement with WWF to promote interoperability between SITRAPESCA and TRAZAPP in an effort to establish an alternative system for data recording. 26 July 2023 — RM 00253-2023-PRODUCE issued which increased the fishing quota to 581,000 tons from 500,000 tons in June 2023, therefore closing the quota for the year. 24 July 2023 — The FIP has provided information about the status of the stock between January 2023- July 2023; the findings provided indicate that the giant squid population is not undergoing exploitation. 1 July 2023 — The FIP conducted a research expedition and the results have been published in a technical report; the study found the giant squid to have a low presence in the examined area, with higher CPUE values in the northern zone decreasing towards the central zone and significantly lower values in the southern zone. 13 May 2023 — Decree No. 003-2023 was issued establishing the end of the formalization of vessels under the cooperative; fishing authorities will continue processing fishing permit requests under SIFORPA II. 11 May 2023 — The FIP conducted a research cruise on jumbo flying squid along the Peruvian coast in May 2023; 12 artisanal fishing vessels collected samples which were ultimately sent out for lab analysis. The samples are currently being prepared for genetic evaluations. 1 May 2023 — Skippers conducted a trial of using the TrazAp during a research cruise; the recorded data from the trial has been made available 1 March 2023 — The FIP is in the process of renewing fishing permits for existing permit holders before the permits expire at the end of 2023. 1 December 2022 — Throughout 2022, the FIP has conducted 5 workshops for artisanal fishermen on the use of the TrazApp e-logbook system. Improvements in Fishing Practices and Fishery Management	May 23	Verifiable improvement in policy/management and fishing practices 20 May 2023 — Law No. 31749 amends Decree Law 25977 (General Fisheries Law) by introducing articles 9-A and 12-A.
