Management priorities presented to DMR

FIP has started collecting data from the first receiver dealers in the fishery.

The group has surveyed scientists across the state of Maine, as well as FIP participants and the Maine Department of Marine Resources, to determine what research has been happening locally on mussels and where there are data gaps.

Determine geographic focus for data

Maine DMR issued a new regulation for mussel harvester reporting in January 2022. Mussel harvesters are required to report trip-level data, including harvest location and effort, on a monthly basis. 

Increase in PI score 1.2.3; Harvest location data continues to be collected by the FIP. Location data and landings info collected represents about 40-60% of the fishery.
