3. FIP Implementation	Aug 23	FIP activities undertaken 1 August 2023 — Technical reports N°3 and N°4 of the observer program have been made available; The FIP has continued to advocate for the adoption of a special maneuver to minimize seabed contact. In the 2022 fishing season, this maneuver was utilized in 39% of monitored hauls, partially applied in 13%, not required in 24%, and no information was collected by observers in 24% of the monitored hauls. 28 June 2023 — A report was produced assessing the DHC fishery's impact by analyzing data gathered from the observer program spanning from 2017 to 2022. The report highlights that the total expanded average bycatch between 2018-2022 represented 1.87% of the total catch. 13 April 2023 — The FIP held a meeting with the Minister or Production and the Vice-Minister of Fisheries to discuss ongoing FIP progress and MSC certification. A proposal to close certain areas for mollusk harvesting in northern Peru due to minimal sanitary concerns was also discussed. 21 September 2022 — A letter has been sent to PRODUCE forwarding the proposal to modify the DHC anchovy Fisheries Management Regulation (FMR) in order to include ecosystem objectives. 1 September 2022 — The onboard observer program has conducted 89 fishing trips this season including 122 coves that have been monitored. Observers continue to be trained for the 2022 season. 1 June 2022 — Ministerial Resolution No. 190-2022-PRODUCE has been issued by PRODUCE establishing the anchovy quota for the DHC sector for the 2022 season. The decree notes that IMARPE is responsible for monitoring the biological, population, and fishing indicators for the anchovy and the possible impact on the seabed and other species. 9 August 2021 — IMARPE stock assessment; the assessment used a stochastic model and data for the period 1953-2021. 14 May 2021 — FIP partners requested access to the Report N°141-2021-PRODUCE/DPO of PRODUCE’s General Office for Policy and Regulatory Analysis in Fishing and Aquaculture; The report shows how the protocol for the adoption of quotas in the DHC sub-fishery that had been formalized in September 2020 15 April 2020 — Report titled "Ecosystem impacts of fishing the low trophic level Peruvian anchovy in the Northern Humboldt Current Ecosystem" was produced featuring a food web model for the NHCE, using the Ecopath with Ecosim program 23 August 2019 — On September 3, the document with the recommended criteria to establish a quota ratio between CHD and CHI was delivered to PRODUCE. 13 August 2019 — In October, CeDePesca published Technical Report No. 2. In total, 162 fishing trips were registered between April 2018 until March 2019, where a catch of 1,420.5 tons of Peruvian anchovy and 1.0% of bycatch was observed. 24 July 2019 — During the fourteenth meeting of the Working Group, IMARPE representatives presented the databases that will be included in the analysis. 24 May 2019 — In May, Dr. Ricardo Amoroso presented MSE’s progress for the Peruvian anchovy fishery to collect comments from the actors and adapt the model. 30 April 2019 — During the thirteenth meeting of the Working Group, IMARPE representatives shared the progress of the analysis to demonstrate whether the capture strategy takes into account the needs of the ecosystem. 1 March 2019 — IMARPE and Washington University continue to advance towards the methodological definition of a Management Strategy Evaluation for the fishery. 7 February 2019 — In the eleventh and twelfth meetings of the Working Group, the representatives of IMARPE shared the progress of the implementation of the Work Plan to determine the trophic needs of the ecosystem in relation to anchovy. 19 June 2018 — IMARPE received feedback from the Working group dedicated to the analysis of the trophic needs of species that prey on Peruvian anchovy (that included the researchers Eduardo Morteo and Jorge Tam), and has adopted a workplan to conduct the analysis 31 March 2018 — A report of results from 2017-2018 private Onboard Observers Program for the Chimbote and Sechura small-scale fleet was shared in the Working group for comments and recommendations. 28 February 2018 — February 2018, CeDePesca sent letters to the Minister of Production and the Vice-Minister of Fisheries expressing its recommendations regarding the setting of a DHC/IHC ratio. 31 January 2018 — In January 2018, IMARPE informed the Working Group that a review of the existing database was conducted by the expert and that positive feedback was received. 1 July 2017 — Demonstrating that the management system considers the ecosystem needs. 1 April 2017 — Promoting improvements for the Management System. 1 March 2017 — Determining the impacts of the fleet on ETP species and other ecosystem components and mitigate them, if necessary. 1 February 2017 — Promoting improvements for the Management System 1 February 2017 — Building a database derived from data gathered by the industrial fishing vessels
