FIP Implementation	Mar 23	FIP activities undertaken 1 March 2023 — The Salvamares Program Manual was updated by the FIP 22 August 2022 — The FIP held a meeting with the Vice Minister of Fisheries (and IMARPE separately) to discuss the need for peer reviews. 1 September 2021 — In August of 2021, IMARPE provided a copy of the latest stock assessment report to FIP partner SNP. The results show that the current reference point is consistent with low biomass 24 June 2021 — A letter and presentation was prepared for PRODUCE expressing support for the adoption of the rule regarding the SITRAPESCA traceability system 15 April 2020 — Report titled "Ecosystem impacts of fishing the low trophic level Peruvian anchovy in the Northern Humboldt Current Ecosystem" was produced featuring a food web model for the NHCE, using the Ecopath with Ecosim program 11 December 2019 — In December 2019, the results of the Management Strategy Evaluation for the anchoveta fishery (MSE) were presented. 16 October 2019 — CeDePesca shared the advances and results of the Observer Program; Results were based on the analysis of 3,146 hauls, where 238,097 tonnes of anchovy were caught and the percentage of bycatch represented 0.27% 24 July 2019 — During the fourteenth meeting of the Working Group, IMARPE representatives presented the databases that will be included in the analysis. 24 May 2019 — In May, Dr. Ricardo Amoroso presented MSE’s progress for the Peruvian anchovy fishery to collect comments from the actors and adapt the model. 30 April 2019 — During the thirteenth meeting of the Working Group, IMARPE representatives shared the progress of the analysis to demonstrate whether the capture strategy takes into account the needs of the ecosystem. 1 March 2019 — IMARPE and Washington University continue to advance towards the methodological definition of a Management Strategy Evaluation for the fishery. 7 February 2019 — In the eleventh and twelfth meetings of the Working Group, the representatives of IMARPE shared the progress of the implementation of the Work Plan to determine the trophic needs of the ecosystem in relation to anchovy. 1 February 2019 — The Salvamares Program for the industrial fleet continued to be implemented and results from 2018-I season report was develop. 6 September 2018 — Legislative Decree N°1393-2018 regulates interdictions in the fishing sector. Promoting actions to increase traceability and minimize illegal activities in the small-scale fishery operating over the same fish stock. 19 June 2018 — IMARPE received feedback from the Working group dedicated to the analysis of the trophic needs of species that prey on Peruvian anchovy (that included the researchers Eduardo Morteo and Jorge Tam), and has adopted a workplan to conduct the analysis 19 June 2018 — Presentation of proposals to determine the percentage of quotas distinguished for indirect and direct human consumption (IHC/DHC) catches and agreement to make a joint proposal to the government 1 March 2018 — Forty (40) industrial fishing vessels gather acoustic data constantly; the equivalent to 240 scientific cruisers, according to IHMA. 1 March 2018 — Expert hired to assess compliance with MSC PI 1.1.1 for LTL species. 28 February 2018 — Between January 2017 and February 2018, FIP partners have been conforming alliances with stakeholders. 26 January 2018 — During the second 2017 fishing season, from January 7th to January 26th 2018, 122 fishing trips were observed by the Program with the help of trained crew members. 11 January 2018 — Progress made on distinguishing indirect from direct human consumption catches (IHC/DHC) to reinforce traceability and knowledge about compliance on quotas established. 29 November 2017 — IMARPE has agreed to updating data related to the estimation of the required level of anchovy biomass that would ensure a healthy status of those species that prey on it (see Task 1.2). 1 July 2017 — Demonstrating that the management system considers the ecosystem needs 1 May 2017 — Building a database derived from data gathered by the industrial fishing vessels. 1 May 2017 — Improvements made to the Onboard observers' program, considering experinces shared by the involved companies. 1 April 2017 — Promoting improvements for the Management System. 31 March 2017 — CeDePesca completed the design of the private Onboard Observers Program for the gathering of data on the interaction of the industrial fishery with non-target species and other ecosystem components in March 2017. 1 March 2017 — Training to onboard observers was conducted by a key observer which was specially trained for the task. A data collection form, to be used by the crew members, was also agreed by FIP partners.
4. Improvements in Fishing Practices and Fishery Management	Oct 22	Verifiable improvement in policy/management and fishing practices 15 October 2022 — Increase to PI 1.2.3; stock abundance and UoA removals are regularly monitored at the level of accuracy and coverage consistent with the harvest control rule 15 October 2022 — Increase to PI 1.2.1; the current information indicates that the harvest strategy in place is maintaining the stock above the target reference point. 21 January 2021 — Increase in BMT score 1.2.1; HCR have been developed and the decision protocol defines how managers must act 15 December 2020 — Increase in BMT score 3.2.4; Regular internal review and an occasional external review ongoing 25 July 2019 — Constitutional Court published File No. 0005-2016-PCC / TC - Case of Judicial Resolutions in Fisheries. 24 July 2019 — The Salvamares Program and the Private On-Board Observer Program were implemented during the 2019-I fishing season. 30 April 2019 — During the thirteenth meeting of the Working Group, a representative of PRODUDE commented on the beginning of the first stage (pilot) of the Traceability System - SITRAPESCA in 82 plants that have been testing the system voluntarily; 34 anchoveta plants for DHC, 36 anchoveta plants for IHC, 10 residual fishmeal plants and 2 reuse plants. 8 January 2019 — Increase in MSC PI 3.2.3 - PRODUCE published the Protocol (No. 054-2019-MP-FN) that aims to establish the procedure that must be developed in order to execute interdiction operations against the illegal activities referred to the extraction and illegal prosecution of aquatic species, arranged by the prosecutor in charge of the investment. 6 September 2018 — Various governmental entities, as well as FIP participants, were involved in the process and legislation published to combat illegal activities in the fishing sector 27 March 2018 — Increase in MSC PI 3.1.2 - There is now evidence that consultation procedures take place regularly and that feedback is accepted and considered by fishing managers, as shown by the adoption of regulations for the DHC fishery following consultations in 2016 and 2017. 1 March 2018 — Implementation by PRODUCE of a pilot traceability system named "SITRAPESCA" 31 July 2017 — On May 3rd, 2017, after coordinating the boardings with FIP partners, the private Onboard Observers Program for the industrial fleet officially started. The first fishing season of 2017 ended in July 2017, with 17 fishing trips observed.
