Achievements

• The contents of the Ecoshrimp standard on farming giant tiger prawn have been agreed upon with the processor PT Atina. This standard is based on the ASIC protocol.
• The Ecoshrimp standard contains multiple clauses on farm-level management, including health management, water quality, labor, and social issues, siting, and managing habitat impacts (including mangrove restoration).
• Farms will also be required to adhere to the ASIC Shrimp Protocol which includes criteria on coordinated disease management and control*.
• *The ASIC Shrimp Protocol under the Shrimp Health Section requires farmers to coordinate and inform neighboring farms if a disease is observed and to develop relevant management actions.

• Completion of the internal assessment using the ASIC Traqtion system App;
• Verification of farms by ASIC (required sample);
• Third-party assessment (Ecocert) for buyer requirement;
• Pilot assessment for ASIC Leader; and,
• Buyer partner engagement – site visit.

• Conducted stakeholder engagement to identify hatcheries to participate in the program.
• Conducted internal and ASIC assessments of farms and produced improvement recommendations.
• Developed improvement recommendations for verified farms.
• Conducted training on the ASIC protocol and its social standards.
• Identified the conservation status of predator species that exist in the shrimp farming area via the IUCN list.
• Engaged with policymakers in the development of a roadmap for shrimp farming.
