Atlantic bumper is distributed from Massachusetts (USA), Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea to Uruguay. Accioly et al. (2012) found no cytogenetic differences between NE and SE Brazilian regions but the surrounding countries were not included in this study. An assessment unit was considered to determine the condition of the stock (Cergole et al., 2005).
