The stock structure is unknown (Hernández et al. 2011), but the main banks of Giant jackknife in Ancud Bay (northern Chilean Region Los Lagos; previously X) are assessed (Techeira et al. 2018). Other giant jackknife assessment units exist in Chile: Corral BayArauco Gulf, and catches are significant in Magallanes management unit.
