SPECIES NAME(s)
Deep-water rose shrimp
The deep-water rose shrimp (Parapenaeus longirostris) is a very important commercial species for trawl fleets in the Mediterranean Sea, which occurs from the Strait of Gibraltar to the very eastern part of the basin. Despite its importance, there are few studies about this species and little information about its population dynamics in the Mediterranean (Sobrino et al. 2005).
Around Greek waters, the GFCM assesses the species in:
Parapenaeus longirostris is the dominant species of the deep-sea trawl and crustacean fishery in Greece (Sobrino et al. 2005, Politou et al. 2003). However, no specific management has been found for the species, so the management unit is established as the whole jurisdiction waters of Greece.
