Several species of cuttlefish species are fished in Western Africa; mainly common cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis), African cuttlefish (S. bertheloti) and giant African cuttlefish (S. hierredda), which are reported and assessed altogether. The CECAF working group adopted the Common octopus assessment units for cuttlefish as well: Dakhla (26°N-21°N), Cape Blanc (21°N-16°N) and Senegal-Gambia (16°N-12°N). This profile refers to the cuttlefishes Dakhla assessment unit (FAO 2018).
