Canadian redfish assessment units are considered to “more or less” correspond to biological stocks but there is some movement between them and outside Canadian waters (DFO, 2012). There are reports of genetic differences between Acadian redfish on the Scotian Shelf and under US management in the Gulf of Maine (Valentin et al, 2005) but it’s unclear if this represents population differentiation.
